In twenty lessons, this textbook offers a journey through the Latin language, literature and civilisation, which will be of interest to literary scholars, historians and philosophers alike. It is aimed at absolute beginners who want to start learning Latin at university or in preparatory classes for the grandes écoles.

Authentic texts and a wide range of exercises enable students to put into practice what they have learned in the lessons. Answers or hints are provided for some exercises to enable students to work independently. Finally, the various lessons provide an opportunity to look at the history of Rome and Latinity over the centuries, from the foundation of Rome to the medieval period.
